Jakabszállás, Hungary CFO Flyin
May 5 - 6, 2007 Photographs from Duana

I must say Paul Tonelli did a fantastic job of arranging the Hungary Fly-In.  From the moment we walked off the flight at Budapest until we said goodbye after escorting us to our hotel in Budapest at the conclusion of the fly-in, he was a perfect host.
The facilities at Jakabszallas were an ideal place for a CFO event.  The gentleman who owns the place, Geza Vas was just unbelievable.  Talk about hospitality, he was it, in full bloom.  I have hundreds of pictures to prove it.  He and Paul and Geza’s nephew or godson (our translator) took care of us as though we were Royalty.
From reviewing the pictures, it appears we had one FG, G-BEBN from England? (the Flying Monkeys), and seven RGs, two with two blade props, five with 3 blade props.
Listed here are the tail numbers of those who showed up.  N52723, D-EEDM, D-EETF, D-ECYZ, G-FNEY, SE-KVM, and Paul’s HA-JAS.  Mark West and wife drove from Budapest due to the weather and James Henderson from Alabama in the US came commercial as did Audrey and I.
I am sorry that those who had to cancel due to the bad weather forecasts missed the fly-in as it was really a good one.  As it turns out the wx was not as bad as forecast but was rather nasty at times.
Due to forecast high winds Friday night (32Kts) we rushed out and tied down all airplanes.  The high winds did not happen at least not to that extent.  Then on Saturday afternoon, there was forecast for hail.  In a matter of 20 minutes or so, we had all eight Cardinals and three other airplanes in one of Geza’s hangars.  You will see pictures of that gaggle of airplanes on the webpage once it is up.  The only one we could not get in the hangar was the Partenavia twin Cardinal.  As it turns out, again, the hail missed us so it was just an exercise in cooperation of a great group of people.
Thanks also to Felix Ney for taking Jim Henderson, Felix’s son Oliver and I on a local tour in his RG G-FNEY .  The landscape reminds me a lot of the area around Temora Australia where we went to Ian Poyins’s fly-in last year.  A few more tree farms here.  A A very interesting flight for me.
To top it all off, Geza and Paul provided us each with pictures and posters from the fly-in.  I’ll include those in the web page as well.
Once again I’d like to say thanks to all for coming and especially to our hosts.
The time and expense was well worth it.
